Beetopia is an interactive Bee Hotel light sculpture, designed and fabricated by George Buchanan alongside a creative team at Pink Cactus props. When touched, the giant resin native bee hotel inhabitants buzz, vibrate and glow brighter, enabling an engaging and sensory experience for participants. Designed to be inclusive and accessible for people with all abilities, Beetopia connects and engage with an extensive and diverse Vivid audience. This piece breaks new ground by also being able to be enjoyed by the visually impaired just as much as the fully sighted. Presented at a time when support for our native bee populations has become increasingly important, Beetopia encourages awareness about the critical role bees play in our ecosystem by literally Bee- dazzling the crowd. The work also aims to encourage discussion about conservation of our native flora and fauna in an increasingly growing urban environment. Designed by George Buchanan – fabricated by Pink Cactus
