George Buchanan is a Sydney based artist and maker whose creative practice is focused on sustainable messaging, often using recycled/repurposed materials in her works. NIDA trained, Buchanan embraces a vast range of materials and fabrication skills in her creative practice using specialised tools and machinery. With 18 years in the prop making industry, Buchanan’s work is of an exceptionally high professional standard. Her work is often participatory in nature. She designs her work to be inclusive for audiences with special needs and age groups, often incorporating sensory and immersive elements to her work such as light, movement, sound, texture, aroma and bright colours, adopting the rules of universal design in order to focus on accessibility and inlcusion.
